Audi faces the Q family with the new Q8, a coupe in off-road

A diesel engine of 286 HP, eight-speed automatic transmission with permanent integral traction

The visual impression given by the new Audi Q8 is to be a vehicle lighter than the Q7 (from which it derives), not being so in reality, it measures almost equal, 4.98 meters and weighs more, 2,220 kilos. But its appearance is more pleasant than the Q7 to be wider and lower, plus the forms of the front and the rear are more aerodynamic trying to be a coupe, so much that even the doors have no frames in the windows.

It comes with a single diesel engine 3.0 TDI of 286 hp, a six-cylinder V that officially consumes 7 liters but that to us in the contact, off-road included, went to 12 liters shoes with rims of 22 '' and 285/40 tires (option of 4,200 euros), having an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.3 seconds. Next year will come another diesel version of 231 HP and a gasoline, also 3.0, with 340 HP.

In all of them they are helped by the Mild-Hybrid, a 48-volt electric system that allows it to recover 12 kW (16 HP) during braking and to be able to run in inertial (sail) mode with the engine off, even when the start / stop comes into operation before the vehicle stops, from 22 km / h, all this means a saving of 0.7 liters per 100 kilometers and also show the ECO label of the DGT.

Its price is 84,840 euros and comes as standard three digital screens of 31, 26 and 22 centimeters, including the browser

Its price is 84,840 euros and logically is very equipped, with 39 systems of assistance to the driver, but also has optional, such as air suspension (1,200 euros), the parking assistant (1,460 euros) or the interesting assistant maneuver with trailer (1,765 euros).

The driving impressions are very positive, showing that it is a fast car (it reaches 245 km / h allowed in its country of manufacture, Germany). As always we tried the most equipped versions and that helps to improve the sensations, like the directional rear axle (option for 1.460 euros) that shortens the radius of turn in maneuvers and on the road improves grip in fast corners.

Only one but, in the automatic gearshift. We note the lack of ability to anticipate on slow-curved roads, as it is faced with the long gear and only reduces to a short when we accelerate to get out of the curve. That reduction comes somewhat late and produces a slight pull somewhat uncomfortable. The way to correct it is to engage a short one to take the curve.

We emphasize the habitability, especially the width (2 meters without counting the mirrors) and the electric opening and closing of the trunk, 650 liters, more than enough for a five-seater. Also the information to the driver in the three screens that you can configure to your liking, that of the cockpit of 12.3 '', while the central ones are of 10.1 and 8.6 inches.

Standard includes front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, LED headlights, shift paddles behind the steering wheel, heated door mirrors, navigator, dual zone climate control, electric parking brake, electric boot lid, 19 "wheels and tires 265/55.
